CN Canadian Women’s Tour, Gatineau QC Results
I just finished my first Canadian Tour stop of the year at the Rivermead Golf Club in Gatineau, Quebec.
I shot 78, 73 to come in T-21st.
For those of you who were watching the live scoring feed this week would know that the 18th hole gave me some trouble. The hole is a slight dog leg right, with a penal bunker on the left and lateral hazards on the right. There is water that guards the front of the green. I must say that the rough at this golf club is EXTREMELY difficult to get out of. I’ve never seen anything like it, it just swallows your ball. If you want to have a good round at Rivermead stay out of the rough! Unfortunately during first round on 18 I left myself in the left rough and as I was waiting for the group in front of me to clear the green I debated over whether or not I could get a 5 iron across the water. I decided to go for it and well I was about a foot short of a good golf shot , it went in the water. That mistake lead to a Double Bogey. The second round I was even par going into 18 but this time I was in the right rough but decided to lay up and try to make a putt for par, didn’t happen so bogey was my score.
I’d have to say that my trouble at this tournament was that if I missed the green I had a hard time getting up and down. It was very hard to tell how the ball was going to react.
The golf course was in excellent shape. The staff did a great job of getting the course ready for us.
I do need to thank a few people who really took care of me this week at the tournament. My host and friend Marc – Andre Piette was so great to me I couldn’t of asked for anything more. My Canadian Coach Blake Smith who spent a lot of time with me to help me get ready for the tournament. I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done!
-Head Professional Luke Saunders and his staff for making all of players feel welcome and for getting the course in good shape.
-Margaret McLaren for finding me a great host and running a great tournament!
